With this name it is known the western part - and closer to Heraklion - of the some kilometres long and wide beach within the bay of Heraklion, eastern to the city and the airport. It is a sandy beach, situated some 7 kilometres far from Heraklion at the East, open to the North and thus affected by the northern winds. Due to the vicinity with the airport, it is somehow noisy, which results to be less crowded.

Very well organised beach, close to Heraklion, it offers full accommodation facilities in many hotels of any kind and category, food and drink in several fish taverns, restaurants, bars and cafes. Facilities for swimming and sunbathing (sunbeds, umbrellas, showers), safety (lifeguards) and sea sports are also available on the beach.
