Ialissos is located 8 kilometers southeast of the capital of Rhodes, on Trianta bay. Around it you will find some of the best hotels in Greece. On the neighbouring hill of Filerimos used to stand the acropolis of the ancient settlement and its archaeological site constitutes one of the most remarkable sites of Rhodes. The climate of the area in the summer months is particularly cool and enjoyable, a fact due to the winds that blow during that period, called “meltemia” Ialissos offers a beautiful beach of pebbles which extends to the beach of Ixia and even reaches the neighbouring village of Kremasti. Alongside the beach there are numerous luxurious hotels offering excellent tourist facilities, as well as some neoclassical mansion belonging to inhabitants of the island, restaurants, cafeterias and bars, tourist shops selling souvenirs and supermarkets. From the beginning of August and until the celebration of Virgin Mary, the “Ialyssia” festival takes place, with traditional music and dances as well as paintings’ and books’ exhibitions. |
